This is a rare opportunity to buy a unique boutique hotel in the heart of Göltürkbükü on the Bodrum peninsula. Set across 3,000 sq.m of land, the hotel was designed in the late 80s/early 90s by renowned architects, Belkis and Haluk Somer. The hotel was painted and decorated by Gülsün Karamustafa, one of Turkey’s most celebrated and outspoken visual artists and filmmakers. The current owners have worked tirelessly to preserve the original murals and stencils of Karamustafa, and her beautiful artistry is apparent throughout the hotel grounds and in the bedrooms. Much of the antique furniture was curated by Aurora prize laureate Raffi Portakal who currently manages the Portakal Art and Auction House in Istanbul.
Modelled on the architectural concept of the Bodrum Castle, the hotel is made up of four separate stone buildings, set around an open courtyard with a swimming pool, two restaurant areas, a cafe area and a secret garden nestled behind and between the northern and western buildings.
The distinctiveness of this hotel is in its design and attention to detail. The long driveway is flanked on either side by stone walls. The front garden is paved and currently used as the hotel’s parking.
A small 'moat' was carved into the front of the hotel under a drawbridge gate that leads to the main entrance. The uniquely rustic hotel marries the embellished dark wood of 15th century castles and the beautiful white stone buildings synonymous with Bodrum.
The land behind the gardens is currently occupied by open orchards of mandarin, fig and pomegranate trees and is a haven for local wildlife. Subsequently, despite its proximity to the main road, the grounds are quiet and tranquil, and just a ten minute walk from the sea.
The gardens themselves have been newly planted, with a mix of fruit trees and flowers, in keeping with the local flora. The kitchen has been recently renewed and six of the ensuite bathrooms were replaced with new showers and tiles in 2018.
There are 33 rooms in total, with accommodation included, a large reception area, three separate eating areas, a games room, two open-air terraces and a bar area. Despite the size of the hotel, much of the space is currently unused, and as such, has huge potential to expand without the need for additional planning permission.
The hotel has been family owned and operated since 2002. The owners are approaching retirement but would be more than happy to share its illustrious history with prospective buyers that are interested in learning more. The asking price is £1.6m sterling: the hotel is priced for a quick sale.

The hotel is set on huge grounds of 3000 sq.m so the potential for expansion with the right permission is huge. As it is, the eastern building has two unused floors which could be converted into 10-12 ensuite bedrooms without the need for council permission
Ece Hotel is one of four other boutique hotels in the area, but it is certainly much more distinctive. No other upcoming competition is known.
